Early Nutrition and Physical Activity Interventions in Childhood Cancer Survivors

Why are childhood cancer survivors at risk for obesity? After treatment: psychosocial factors, poor diet quality, and being sedentary can affect this situation. Due to the levels of energy intake exceeding levels of energy expenditure, weight gain occurs. If interventions are initiated early in childhood cancer survivors, it would prevent obesity and cardiovascular disease. Some of the interventions include improving dietary intake, Increasing physical activity, and addressing the specific barriers that survivors are facing in attaining a healthy lifestyle.
